USA here I come

The flight leaves Gatwick at 1pm today. Up at 6 to do the final checks and wait for the taxi to take me to the train station.  Opted for the train to avoid the M25 lottery.  I went for an earlier train than needed as this one lets me change at Reading and get a connecting train straight to Gatwick which avoids me having to go into London and use the tube which I didn't fancy through rush hour and dodging potential terrorist threats although so far the roads and train is relatively quiet.
